I attended an insightful and inspiring webinar today courtesy of Training Magazine Network. It was called Making Learning Work: Integrating Learning Science & Engagement with Clark Quinn.

If you aren't already familiar with Mr. Quinn and his work, he's a the author of several excellent books on learning science as it relates to instructional design, and is one of the pioneers of learning technology, as well as one of the instigators of the eLearning Manifesto, which I just learned today!

This was a well-attended session with a very lively chat, and Clark was very interactive with the participants. My biggest takeaways were around the concept of WIIFM - he reinforced this key instructional design principle of always providing a "hook" for the learner, to meet them where they are and convince them that they want – and need – to learn more.
